La Gomera

 

La Gomera is a great place for excursiones (by land and water), to fish and play golf. La Gomera is also known as the “Colombina Island” because of the departure of Columbus to discover America. La Gomera was the last place he set foot on before he crossed the atlantic ocean. The inhabitants of La Gomera have a unique way of communicating across deep ravines by means of an amazing whistled speech called Silbo Gomero (world heritage).


If you visit our Island don´t forget to taste the gofio, goat cheese (3rd best cheese of the world), goat meat, almogrote (a cheese spread), and miel de palma (a syrup extracted from palm trees), the mojo´s, the delicious watercress soup and much more!!

  • San Sebastian, the Islands capital, where you  can find interesting places such as: “ el pozo de la aguada” (where Columbus got his water for the journey to America), “La Asunción church”, The tower of Conde, La casa Colón ( the house of Columbus) the church of San Sebastian. Parador Nacional with its beautifull gardens and incredible views of  Tenerife and its volcano, El teide, Spanish highest mountain. The incredible rocks Agando, La Zarcita and La Ojila are also visible.
  • Hermigua Valley, its inhabitants say that it has best climate of the world, and Agulo considered the island bombon.
  • National Park “Garajonay”, declared world heritage in 1986, unique in the world covered with laurisilva (laurel rain forest). The slopes are criss-crossed by paths that present various levels of difficulty to visitors, and stunning views to seasoned hikers.
  • Vallehermoso (beautiful valley) and its impressive “roque cano” and dam “la encantadora”. Also interesting” los órganos(by boat) and the mountain “la Fortaleza” in Chipude.
  • Valle Gran Rey (valley of the great king) with beautiful colored terraces along the whole valley, its famous beaches and the extraordinary view of the “mirador Cesar Manrique”.
  • Alajeró, where you can vivit the church of virgin del Buen Paso.
  • The fishing port of  Playa Santiago, where is located the Hotel Jardín Tecina and its huge golf resort and spectacular gardens.
